  • The article reports the discovery that increased flashes of lightning in hurricanes tends to occur around 24 hours before the storm intensifies. The observation of lightning flashes in Hurricane Dennis in 2005 is noted, mentioning that the flashes increased from 600 per day to 1,500 per day around 24 hours before the wind speeds of the storm doubled.
