  • The article reports that pets cause approximately 87,000 annual falls requiring emergency room treatment in the U.S. The fact that one-fourth of the falls are the result of dog walking is noted, mentioning that women have been injured more often than men and that most victims have been children or between the ages of 35 and 54.
