  • The article reports on the observation of methane belches from the surface of Mars by a team of researchers led by scientist Michael J. Mumma of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center. The possibility that the belches, which took place during the summer of 2003, could indicate the presence of microbial life on Mars is mentioned.
