  • The article discusses the question of whether black holes came into existence before or after the galaxies that surround them. The belief of astronomer Christopher Carilli of the U.S. National Radio Astronomy Observatory that the black holes came into existence first and that their surrounding galaxies somehow formed as a result is discussed.
