Resumen de El emperador Heraclio (610-641) entre la historia y la leyenda: Un estado de la cuestión

El presente artículo busca presentar la figura del emperador bizantino Heraclio y el problema de la tradición legendaria que se desarrolló en torno a esta. Frente a la escases de trabajos - particularmente en español- sobre el tema, se realizará primero una breve introducción histórica sobre el personaje, luego se revisarán los principales estudios que existen sobre él, su reinado y leyenda, a modo de un estado de la cuestión. Finalmente, se plantearán algunas preguntas, problemas y posibilidades de investigación en este ámbito.

The aim of this paper is to presentthe figure of the Byzantine emperor Heraclius and the problem of the legendary tradition that developed around it. Considering the insufficiency of studies –particularly in Spanish- on this subject, first I will provide a brief historical introduction about Heraclius, then a review of the main studies about him, his reign and legend, as a “state of the art”. Finally, some questions, problems, and possibilities of research on this field.
