Resumen de A presença nobre no Douro-Sul (séc. XIII): breve apresentação de um espaço de transições e continuidades

  The Douro-Sul, the norther territory of Viseu, was apparently the stage for the profound activity of countless noble medieval lineages. In this brief study, in addition to ascertaining the dimensions of their performance, we intend to identify the existence of spaces of continuity (with the deeply seigneurial North) and transition (with the strongly municipalized South). It is quite possible that during the Middle Ages this vast territory, belonging to the Douro Valley, identified itself much better with the northern reality than with the “Southern” to which historiography, in a global sense, seems to strongly associate. In sum, based primarily on the analysis of the texts of the “Inquisitiones of 1258”, a well-known Portuguese source of the thirteenth century, we will, based on three distint vectors, determine the dimensions and characteristics of the noble presence in the Douro-Sul, which may have been in the genesis of transitions and continuities detected in the territory. ese vectors are the distribution of noble’s patrimony;

  the parishes patronage rights; and the distribution of “honors”, from which we will also delimit the main patrimonial poles and the most attractive places of the Douro-South for the noble community in the middle of the thirteenth century.

  O Douro- Sul, território mais setentrional do atual distrito de Viseu, foi ao que tudo indica, palco da atuação profunda de inúmeras linhagens nobres medievais.

  Neste breve estudo, além de averiguar as dimensões dessa atuação, pretendemos essencialmente identificar a existência de espaços de continuidade (com o Norte profundamente senhorializado) e de transição (com o Sul fortemente municipalizado).

  É muito possível que durante a idade média, este vasto território, pertencente ao Vale do Douro, se tenha identificado muito melhor com a realidade nortenha, do que com o “Sul” ao qual a historiografia, num sentido global, parece associar. Em suma, assente primordialmente na análise dos textos das Inquirições de 1258, conhecida fonte portuguesa do século XIII, iremos, a partir de três vetores distintos, determinar as dimensões e características da presença nobre no Douro- Sul, que pode ter estado na génese das transições e continuidades detetadas no espaço. São esses vetores a distribuição de património; a posse de direitos de padroados; e a distribuição espacial de honras, a partir dos quais iremos também delimitar os principais polos patrimoniais e os espaços mais atrativos do Douro-Sul para a comunidade nobre em meados da centúria de duzentos.
