  • The population is shrinking and ageing amid a very low national birth rate. The government of the Japanese city of Urayasu thinks taxpayers should pay for women to freeze their eggs. Here, Petropanagos argues that the publicly funded egg-freezing isn't the way to address Japan's low birth rate.
