    This article presents the initial phase of the research on the preservation of the organizational memory of the Geopark in Brazil, and has as boundary the Iron Quadrangle, in the State of Minas Gerais. It is a research on the organization and access to the cultural heritage of the Geopark. As a methodology, a mapping of the information about the theme was carried out on the Capes portal and on sites of public agencies, private companies and non-governmental organizations. Therefore, it is a documental, exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, with the purpose of knowing the studies and researches that have been developed regarding the preservation of the memory of the Geoparks in Brazil.

    Although the concept of Geopark is easy to understand and already consolidated, its implementation and inclusion in the Global Geopark Network requires the development of appropriate techniques and methodologies for its consolidation. In this first phase of the research, it constitutes a better understanding about the theme and the context in which it is inserted. At this moment, it can be verified that the publication on the preservation of the organizational memory of the Geoparks in Brazil is non-existent. Therefore, the results of this study will support the other phases of the research on the creation of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero Geopark Memory Center in Minas Gerais, which demands extensive research due to the scarcity of literature, since research and initiatives on the implementation of Geoparks In Brazil they are in an early stage.

    Therefore, it is the ideal moment for the discussion and formulation of proposals aiming at the preservation of the organizational memory of the Iron Quadrangle Geopark, Minas Gerais.

    Este artigo apresenta a fase inicial da pesquisa sobre a preservação da memória organizacional do Geoparque no Brasil proposto para o Quadrilátero Ferrífero, no Estado de Minas Gerais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa sobre a organização e acesso ao patrimônio cultural do Geoparque. Como metodologia foi feito um mapeamento das informações sobre o tema, no portal Capes e em sites de órgãos públicos, empresas privadas e organizações não governamentais. Portanto é uma pesquisa de natureza documental, exploratória e descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa, com a finalidade de conhecer os estudos e pesquisas que têm sido desenvolvidos referentes à preservação da memória dos Geoparques no Brasil. Embora o conceito de Geoparque seja de fácil compreensão e está consolidado, a implementação e inclusão do geoparque do Quadrilátero Ferrífero, no Estado de Minas Gerais, na Rede Global de Geoparques requer o desenvolvimento de técnicas e metodologias apropriadas. Nesta primeira fase da pesquisa, se busca melhor entendimento sobre o tema e o contexto no qual se insere. Neste momento, pode-se constatar que a publicação sobre a preservação da memória organizacional dos Geoparques, no Brasil, é praticamente inexistente. Portanto, os resultados deste estudo, subsidiarão as demais fases da pesquisa sobre a criação do Centro de Memória do Geoparque Quadrilátero Ferrífero, em Minas Gerais, que demanda uma pesquisa devido à escassez de literatura. Visto que, as pesquisas sobre a implantação de Geoparques no Brasil encontra-se em estágio inicial. Entendemos, assim, ser este o momento para a discussão e formulação de propostas visando à preservação da memória organizacional do Geoparque Quadrilátero Ferrífero, Minas Gerais.
