German alumina producer Almatis is enlarging tis footprint in India as the country expands its steelmaking capacity.
Germany-based speciality alumina producer Almatis will set up a new facility for the production of tabular alumina in India as part of its growth strategy in the Asian region.
The plant will be constructed at Falta, in India’s West Bengal state, where Almatis has been operating a site since 1995, and will be an expansion of the existing facilities.
“This investment will enable shorter lead times and a further improvement of flexibility from a plant with proximity to our Indian and Asian customers,” the company said.
