Gemina gets boost from steel and green sectors

  • Gemina’s managing director, Firat Yucesoy, told Industrial Minerals that the company has seen increasing demand from steel plants and foundries for a number of its industrial mineral products, including limestone, olivine and perlite, over the last year. According to World Steel Association figures, global steel output rose 5.3% year on year in 2017 to 1.7 billion tonnes. In addition to steelmakers, Gemina’s core client base includes customers in the construction industry, to which it supplies products such as perlite for insulation applications; and the energy sector, to which it sells bentonite for drilling oil and gas wells
