  • Resumen
    • The outlook for coarse grades of sand is positive, but that boom could backfire on finer grades, according to the boss of Fairmount Santrol.

The supply of frac sand for drilling operations in the Permian Basin in the United States will reduce the prices for fine mesh sand, but supply and demand for coarser grades of material will remain more balanced, Fairmount Santrol boss Jennifer Deckard has told investors.

The high-performance sand supply company reported on Thursday March 8 that it had sold 2.8 million short tons of frac sand in the last three months of 2017. This was down slightly from the previous three months, but it was up from 1.8 million tons in October-December 2016.
