Resumen de Mining rights seen as ‘formality’ for world’s largest fluorspar deposit

Michael Greenfield

  • The Doornhoek project in South Africa should be granted mining rights soon, allowing SA Fluorite to meet growing demand with 180,000 tpy of new output.

The Doornhoek project should receive within the next few months the mining rights needed to bring 180,000 tonnes per year of fluorspar to the market within two or three years, a source close to the company has said, describing this process as a “formality.” SA Fluorite, the applicant and mine operator, will produce acid-grade fluorspar at Doornhoek. Capacity there could be “ramped up to meet market demand,” the source said.
