  • Resumen
    • At Industrial Minerals, we cover these trends constantly, and are at the forefront of reporting when supply chain disruptions take place – for example, the belief that zirconium supplies out of China may soon be curtailed. Increased use of digital printing onto ceramic tiles means there is a higher demand for zircon, Singh finds, with tile producers looking for premium raw materials. Edward Siame, in his University of Exeter PhD dissertation, showed that the 0.84% Li2O and 0.36% Rb2O present in some of the mica minerals could be turned into a lithium carbonate with “Li2CO3 content of about 90%… suitable for use in the glass and ceramic industries, and as feedstock for the production of high-purity lithium compounds.”
