  • The article explores the five-second rule, the belief that it is safe to eat any food retrieved from the floor within five seconds. Topics covered include research at Aston University in England which confirmed that food retrieved from the floor after a few seconds is likely to contain bacteria than if it is left for longer periods of time, and a study which tracked Enterobacter aerogenes transfer from various surfaces to different foods.
