    The essay analyses the changes to the agricultural labour market of the latest years. First of all, it addresses the exponential growth in the number of foreign workers - regular and irregular - employed in the sector, by identifying the main factors that have triggered these changes and the negative effects which have followed (in particular, irregular migration, labour exploitation, illicit brokering activities and gang-master system). Second, the legal tools available to tackle these phenomena and protect the migrant workers - regular and irregular - employed in the agricultural sector are assessed.

    Il saggio analizza i mutamenti intervenuti negli ultimi anni nel mercato del lavoro agricolo, primo fra tutti la crescita esponenziale del numero di stranieri - regolari e irregolari - impiegati nel settore, identificando da un lato i principali fattori che hanno determinato tali mutamenti, e dall’altro gli effetti negativi che da tali mutamenti sono derivati (in particolare, immigrazione irregolare, sfruttamento lavorativo, intermediazione illecita di manodopera e caporalato). Si passano, quindi, in rassegna gli strumenti offerti dall’ordinamento per contrastare tali fenomeni e tutelare i migranti stranieri - regolari e irregolari - impiegati in agricoltura.
