  El siguiente trabajo reflexiona sobre el lugar que el estudio del primer antiliberalismo reaccionario ha ocupado en la historiografía contemporaneista española. Para ello se analizan las causas que llevaron a un desinterés inicial por este tema y se contrastan con las nuevas aportaciones. El autor sostiene que este tipo manifestación política no puede entenderse como un elemento marginal del proceso de ruptura liberal con el Antiguo Régimen. La reacción antiliberal formó parte de esa historia revolucionaria e intervino en el espacio público con unos lenguajes, prácticas e instrumentos que acabaron resultando igual de «modernos» que los de sus contrarios.

  This article reflects on the state of the historical literature of the first period of reactionary antiliberalism in Spain. In order to accomplish this task, it analyzes why the topic did not initially generate much interest, and then contrasts these reasons with new contributions that have revived the field. It is argued that reactionary antiliberalism should not be viewed as marginal to the process of liberal break with the Ancien Régime. The antiliberal reaction also formed part of the history of revolution and influenced public opinion by providing language, practices and instruments that became as «modern» as those of its opponents.
