    El puente de Mersey ha sido construido por FCC dentro del consorcio constructor Merseylink Civil Contractors Joint Venture. Esta obra ha contado con el apoyo de todo el Grupo FCC, en concreto con los Servicios Técnicos (estructuras, carreteras y geotecnia), y la compañía especializada (BBR).

    El propósito de esta gran obra civil, que ha sido reconocida por KPMG entre los 100 proyectos de infraestructuras más importantes del mundo, es aliviar la congestión del puente Silver Jubilee, abierto en 1961 y que ha supuesto hasta la fecha el único paso sobre el río, así como conectar ésta zona con la red principal de autopistas del Noroeste de Inglaterra.

    El puente tiene una longitud total de 2.248 metros, con un tramo central de un kilómetro aproximadamente y dos viaductos. Esta obra singular tiene un único diseño. El pilono central alcanza los 80 metros de altura y es más bajo que los otros dos pilonos, con 110 metros el del lado norte y 125 metros el del lado sur, se han empleado 1,296 kilómetros de cables conectados con estas pilas al tablero del puente.

    La nueva red de carreteras incluye un total de doce puentes y siete nuevos enlaces, con 127.425 metros cúbicos de hormigón utilizados en la obra. La obra se ha realizado con los más altos estándares medioambientales, el diseño del puente ha seguido la premisa de mínima afección al medioambiente, 1.423.225 toneladas de materiales han sido recuperados y reutilizados en la construcción.

    El proyecto beneficiará no solamente al área de la región de Liverpool, con una población de más de 1,6 millones de habitantes, sino también al área noroeste de Inglaterra.

    The Mersey Bridge has been built by FCC within the Merseylink Civil Contractors Joint Venture construction consortium. This work has had the support of the entire FCC Group, specifically of both the Technical Services (structures, highways and geotechnics), and the specialized company (BBR).

    The purpose of this great civil work, which has been recognized by KPMG among the 100 most important infrastructure projects in the world, is to relieve the congestion of the Silver Jubilee bridge, opened in 1961 and which has been the only step on the river to date, as well as connecting this area with the main motorway network of the North West ofEngland.

    The bridge has a total length of 2,248 meters, with a central section of approximately one kilometer and two viaducts. 1his unique work has a unique design. The central pylon reaches 80 meters in height and is lower than the other two pylons, with 110 meters on the north side and 125 meters on the south side, 1,296 kilometers of cables connected with these piles to the bridge deck have beenused.

    The new road network includes a total of twelve bridges and seven new links, with 127,425 cubic meters of concrete used in the work. 1he work has been carried out with the highest environmental standards, the design of the bridge has followed the premise of minimal impact on the environment, 1,423,225 tons of materials have been recovered and reused in construction.

    The project will benefit not only the area of the Liverpool region, with a population over 1. 6 million inhabitants, but also the northwest area of England.
