  • The start of fracking in the UK will not only drive new demand for drilling muds but will also create a demand for proppants, potentially driving up sales of silica sand in the country. Lancashire county council initially blocked the plans before then-secretary of state for communities and local government Sajid Javid stepped in to allow the project to proceed in 2016.
