    Goethe y Hegel arrostraron desde muy pronto el hecho religioso. Aunque cada uno reelaboró singularmente la herencia recibida, ambos llegaron a conclusiones parecidas: crítica de la religión positiva y la justificación de una ética no distanciada de las raíces de la vida. Sin embargo, Goethe eligió el camino de la intuición y de la creación artística en su evolución desde la adoración ingenua de la Naturaleza hasta una suerte de panteísmo de cariz espinosista; mientras que Hegel se decantó por la especulación abstracta, desde su crítica a la religión positiva hasta su integración en el sistema de la Fenomenología.

    Goethe and Hegel faced the religious fact very early. Although each one reworked the inheritance in his own way, both came to similar conclusions: criticism of the Positivity of the religion and argument of an ethics not distanced from the roots of life. However, Goethe chose the path of intuition and artistic creation in his evolution from a naive adoration of Nature to a kind of spinozist pantheism; while Hegel opted for an abstract speculation, from his critique of positive religion to his integration in the System of the Phenomenology.
