Resumen de Epicureísmo y Foucault: el poder sobre uno mismo y el poder sobre los demás

  El estudio del poder ha sido un tema que, en especial desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX, ha proliferado a partir del interés revisionista que puso la lupa en la modernidad y las formas de ejercicio del poder que el Estado supo desarrollar durante siglos. En este marco, Michel Foucault desarrolló toda una teoría sobre el poder que, a diferencia de la mayoría, enfocaba el análisis en el individuo buscando establecer los límites en la autonomía del sujeto en función del otro. En este análisis, el repaso por la escuela epicureísta del pensamiento helénico pone de manifiesto no solo influencias sobre el autor francés, sino también una gran capacidad de re-significar lo propuesto para realizar una comprensión del presente que se cimenta sólidamente en el conocimiento del pasado, un pasado que siempre tiene vigencia. En este artículo proponemos un recorrido por esta relación a partir de la noción de poder sobre uno mismo y de los demás.

  The study of power has been a theme that, especially since the second half of the twentieth century, has proliferated from the revisionist interest that put the focus in the modernity and the forms of exercise of power that the State has been able to develop for centuries. In this context, Michel Foucault developed a theory of power that, unlike most, focused the analysis on the individual seeking to establish the limits on the autonomy of the subject in function of the other. In this analysis, the review by the Epicurean school of Greek thought reveals not only influences on the French author, but also a great capacity to re-signify what is proposed to realize an understanding of the present that is solidly based on the knowledge of the past, a past that is always present. In this article we propose a tour of this relationship based on the notion of power over oneself and others.
