    • Investment in the Latin American mining sector and regulations in the region were the main topics of discussion at the first South American Investing in LATAM MINING CUMBRE conference in July.

Aurora Williams, Chile's Mining Minister, told delegates that the country remains one of the major mining investment destinations in the world highlighting its position as the largest global producer of both copper and lithium.

Chilean Mining Minister Aurora Williams addresses delegates at LATAM Mining Cumbre "We are a small country in the world's eyes however our economy is eminently a mining economy having the largest copper and lithium production in the world," Williams said while updating delegates on the current situation of the mining industry in Chile.

"We have currently 37 new mining projects being developed in Chile with partnerships with the likes of Codelco and Albemarle among different private investors, remaining one of the major mining investment world destinations. We remain very optimistic and expect our national policies, such as "Politica Nacional del Litio y Gobernanza de Salares"among others, to improve further our position within the world mining industry," Williams added.
