    El objetivo de este trabajo es aportar nueva luz sobre la hasta hoy poco estudiada biogra-fía del escritor Jean-Baptiste Dasconaguerre, considerado padre de la novela vasca por haber publicado, en 1870, la obra Atheka-gaitzeko oihartzunak. Lo primero, estudiaremos en que situación se encuentra la biografía hasta ahora publicada, citando algunas informaciones carentes de fundamento alguno. Posteriormente, presentaremos nuevos datos con el objeti-vo de actualizar y corregir dicha biografía.

    The aim of this work is to shed new light on the, until now, somewhat forgotten biogra-phy of the writer Jean-Baptiste Dasconaguerre, considered the father of the Basque novel for the publication of Atheka-gaitzeko oihartzunak in 1870. Firstly we shall look at the current state of this biography, highlighting several mistakes and some nonsensical information. With the intention of updating the biography we shall then proceed not only to offer cor-rections but also bring to light some previously unknown biographical details.

    L’objectif de ce travail est d’apporter un nouvel éclairage à la biographie de l’écrivain Jean-Baptiste Dasconaguerre, peu étudiée jusqu’ici. Cet écrivain était considéré comme le père du roman basque car il avait publié en 1870 l’œuvre intitulée Atheka-gaitzeko oihartzu-nak. Tout d’abord, nous étudierons dans quel contexte a été écrite la biographie déjà publiée, en soulignant certaines informations dénuées de tout fondement. Puis, nous présenterons de nouvelles informations afin d’actualiser et de corriger cette biographie.

    Lan honen helburua da argi berri bat ematea 1870ean Atheka-gaitzeko oihartzunak argita-ratzeagatik euskal eleberriaren aitatzat hartzen den Jean-Baptiste Dasconaguerre idazlearen biografiari. Gaur egun arte nahiko utzita egon den biografia hau zein egoeratan dagoen az-tertuko dugu lehenik, akats eta zentzugabekeria batzuk aipatuz. Ondoren, biografia egune-ratzeko asmoz, ez bakarrik zuzenketak baina ere orain arte ezagutu gabeko datu berriak plazaratuko ditugu.
