Resumen de Indian barytes exporters gear up for APMDC tender process

Yoke Wong, William Clarke

  • Indian exporters wait with bated breath to see if near-monopolist APMDC will lower prices for the mineral, allowing increased competition with other suppliers.

Exporters in India are waiting for the state-owned barytes mine owner Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corp (APMDC) to announce the date of its tender following the expiry of the previous one-year contract.

Indian is the world's second-largest barytes producer after China, and output is overwhelmingly centred on one huge deposit, the Mangampet project in Andhra Pradesh.
