  El presente trabajo resalta la importancia que tuvo el estudio en la Religión dominica desde los primeros tiempos de su historia, como base de su incidencia en la fundación de escuelas y universidades. Desde el conocimiento que aporta la Historia de la Educación se facilita la comprensión del papel que jugaron las circunstancias socio-históricas que enmarcaron el tiempo de fundación de la Orden y sus dos primeros siglos de existencia. Resaltamos el valor que en dicho estudio tuvieron, justificando el aprendizaje de lenguas (hebreo, latín, griego, árabe), como base de su vocación misionera.

  This paper highlights the importance that the study in dominica Religion, from the early days of its history, as this basis of its impact on the founding of schools and universities. The knowledge that gives us the History of Education facilitates the understanding of the role played by the socio-historical circumstances that framed the time of foundation of the Order and its first two centuries of existence. Highlight the value in the stdy had, justifying learning languages (Hebrew, Latin, Greek, Arabic) as the basis of their missionary vocation.
