Germany-based Heraeus Photovoltaics, supplier of components and services for the renewable energy market, is seeing long-term opportunities in heterojunction (HJT) solar cell technology, and has teamed up with photovoltaics equipment producer Meyer Burger to develop new components that will support HJT growth. Generally silver and aluminium based, conductive pastes help conductivity contact and flow between the solar cells within a panel structure: as such they are "one of the most important consumables in the solar cell production", according to Heraeus. The company has a range of metallisation and silver (Ag) pastes suitable for various solar technologies, including BSF cells, PERC cells and n-type cells. Because Ag paste ensures reliable electrical contact performance of the cell, the material "was and is one of the key efficiency drivers for the cell production", Michael Treutel, senior vice president for marketing at Heraeus Photovoltaics, stated. According to the company, the development of low-temperature pastes...
