    INTRODUCCIÓN. La investigación realizó un análisis de relación entre el valor agregado bruto generado por las provincias de Pichincha, Azuay, Tungurahua y la percepción del desempeño de sus PYME en el período 2011 - 2016. La información utilizada corresponde a las encuestas de coyuntura de la PyME, realizadas por el Observatorio de la PyME de la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar e información del Banco Central del Ecuador. OBJETIVO. Analizar la relación entre el valor agregado bruto y la percepción del desempeño de las PyME. MÉTODO. Consiste en un análisis de la correlación entre el valor agregado bruto y la percepción del desempeño de la PyME. RESULTADOS. Permiten concluir que la percepción de las PyME en cuanto a la variación anual del volumen de ventas y el volumen de producción presenta una correlación positiva con la variación anual del valor agregado bruto de las provincias en estudio. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES. El análisis y el seguimiento de los resultados operativos y económicos de las PyME deben ser potenciados con políticas que permitan su desarrollo debido a la relación que tienen con los agregados de la economía.

    INTRODUCTION.

    This research makes an analysis of the relationship between the gross added value generated by the pr ovinces of Pichincha, Azuay, Tungurahua and the perception of the performance of their small and medium businesses in the between 2011 - 2016. The information used corresponds to PyME conjunctural surveys, conducted by the PyME Observatory of the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar and official information of the Central Bank of Ecuador.

    OBJECTIVE.

    Analyze the relationship between gross value added and the perception of the performance of PyME .

    METHOD.

    C onsists in an ana lysis of the correlation between data of gross added value and the performance perception of PyME.

    RESULTS . The results of the investigation allow us to conclude that the perception of PyME about the annual variation of sales volume and production volume p resents a positive correlation with the annual variation of Pereira , Apunte & Pulgar .

    It is concluded that the analysis and monitoring of the operatio nal and economic results of PyME should be enhanced with policies that allow their development due to the relationship they have with the aggregates of the economy
