Revisionist approaches to the history of the American West have usually been interested in how different cultural products contribute to the creation of a biased and limited vision of the region.
However, literature and films have always been scholars’ main interest. Music has the capability and flexibility to provide an engaging perspective on the American West. We approach musicians from the American West when they depart from their professional realm. We focus on the literature that they have produced beyond their songwriting and performing, studying thus the contrast that can be established in their use of different cultural mediums.
