A finales del siglo XIII, tras sofocar la rebelión de sus cortesanos y mientras intentaba recaudar fondos para la cuestión Imperial, el rey Alfonso rompió las paces que realizó con Muhammad I, rey de Granada. Tras ello, el rey nazarí envió a su hijo y futuro heredero, Muhammad II a que pidiera el auxilio del emir de los musulmanes, Abu Yusuf. Este hecho provocó la primera incursión de los benimerines en la Península Ibérica y fue el desencadenante de una serie de conflictos que se remontan hasta mediados del siglo XIV. Éste, espero que sea el primero de una serie de artículos en los cuales intentaré explicar los hechos que acaecieron durante estos 75 años.

At the end of the 13th century, after quelling the rebellion of his courtiers and while trying to raise money for the Imperial issue, King Alfonso broke peace with Muhammad I, King of Granada. After that, the Nasrid King sent his son and future heir, Muhammad II to request the help of the emir of the Muslims, Abu Yusuf. This fact caused the first incursion of the Benimerines in the Iberian Peninsula and was the trigger for a series of conflicts dating back to the mid-14th century. This, I hope to be the first of a series of articles in which I will try to explain the facts that occurred during these 75 years.
