Este artículo hace una lectura política de la amistad literaria de Enrique Vila-Matas y Sergio Pitol. A partir de la revisión de los textos dedicados entre sí, en aquellos donde aparecen como personaje del otro, y en donde representan su amistad, este texto ensaya sobre la posibilidad de crear un espacio, más allá de las letras, donde la deuda de la amistad no se paga, sino que se posterga para seguir existiendo. Con las lecturas sobre la amistad de Edda Gaviola, Jacques Derrida, José Ramón Ruisánchez y Giorgio Agamben, se crean una red teórica para repensar la amistad transatlántica de Vila-Matas y Pitol.

This article makes a political reading of the literary friendship of Enrique Vila-Matas and Sergio Pitol. From the review of the texts they dedicated to each other, in those where they appear as characters of the other, and where they represent their friendship, this text rehearses about the possibility of creating a space, beyond the letters, where the debt of the friendship is not paid but postponed continuing existing. With the readings on the friendship of Edda Gaviola, Jacques Derrida, José Ramón Ruisánchez and Giorgio Agamben, create a theoretical network to rethink the transatlantic friendship of Vila-Matas and Pitol.
