Examinando brevemente cuatro ejemplos de exposiciones temporales o permanentes realizadas entre los siglos xix y xxi (todas ellas en París), se busca poner de manifiesto algunos de los medios a través de los cuales los museos intentan ejercer un control, explícita o implícitamente, sobre la narración y la representación de su propio pasado.

Briefly examine four examples of temporary or permanent exhibitions spanning from the 19th to the 21th centuries (all of them in Paris), is intended to highlight some of the ways by which museums attempt to exercise control, explicitly or implicitly, over the narration and representation of their own past.
