A partir de la voluntad testamentaria del historiador y notario Josep Maurí i Serra (1912-1967), la fundación que lleva su nombre fue creada en 1969 con el objetivo de mantener y divulgar su legado, además de fomentar la cultura y conservación del patrimonio de su población natal –la Garriga, Vallès Oriental– a unos 35 km de Barcelona.
Es una fundación de carácter privado, regida por un Patronato que se encarga, de forma totalmente altruista, de su gestión y conservación, en particular del fondo patrimonial, que comprende: una biblioteca especializada, un archivo histórico con 800 pergaminos, fotografías, clichés y una colección de obras de arte y materiales arqueológicos recuperados entre la década de los años cuarenta y la de los setenta.

Based on the will of the historian and notary Josep Maurí i Serra (1912-1967), the foundation that bears his name was created in 1969 with the aim of maintaining and disseminating his legacy, as well as promoting culture and conservation of the heritage of his home town -the Garriga in the Eastern Vallès- about 35 km. from Barcelona. It is a private foundation, governed by a patronage that takes care, in a completely altruistic way, of its management and conservation, in particular of the patrimonial fund that includes: a specialized library, a historical archive with 800 scrolls, photographs, clichés and a collection of works of art and archaeological materials recovered between the forties and the seventies.
