Resumen de Intrahistoria edilicia y museográfica del Museo Provincial de Lugo en el siglo XX

En esta comunicación documentaremos los cambios físicos más significativos del Museo Provincial de Lugo desde su creación en 1932, pasando por su cambio de sede en 1957 y las principales ampliaciones proyectadas en 1970 y 1991, aunque ejecutadas con posterioridad a dichas fechas.
La creación del Museo por la Diputación de Lugo y su primera andadura ocupando parte del edificio del palacio de San Marcos, supera las iniciales expectativas espaciales para la conservación y exhibición de su patrimonio dado el gran incremento de sus colecciones. Por consiguiente, ya en 1949 se toma el acuerdo de ocupar el antiguo convento de San Francisco.
Así, desde la fecha de su reinauguración en 1957, el MPL está ubicado en dicho edificio histórico, por lo que se mostrará la evolución edilicia de este monumento histórico-artístico en sus fases cronológicas más representativas haciendo especial incidencia en la etapa museológica.

In this paper we will document the most significant physical changes of the Provincial Museum of Lugo since its creation in 1932, through its change of location in 1957 and the main extensions projected in 1970 and 1991, although executed after these dates.
The creation of the Museum by the Diputación de Lugo and its first step occupying part of the building of the San Marcos Palace, exceeded the initial spatial expectations for the conservation and exhibition of its heritage given the large increase in its collections. Therefore, already in 1949 the agreement to occupy the old convent of San Francisco is taken.Thus, from the date of its reopening in 1957, the MPL is located in said historical building. We will show the architectural evolution of this historic-artistic monument in its most representative chronological phases, with special emphasis on the museological stage
