    La historia económica y social de Salamanca y su provincia durante el s. XV queda reflejada en los distintos censos de población. Los datos contenidos en tales documentos permiten a los historiadores analizar la demografía a través del recuento tanto de habitantes como de productos y de impuestos, poniendo de manifiesto las diferencias sociales que existían entre clérigos y laicos. También se trata en este capítulo el desarrollo urbanístico de la ciudad entre los siglos XV y XVI: calles, plazas y puntos de mayor actividad comercial y concentración demográfica. Por último, se hace un estudio de los distintos oficios urbanos y su reparto por las zonas de Salamanca tomando como fuente principal para la historia urbana salmantina el libro de las posesiones del Cabildo: predomina el sector servicios y la comercialización de artesanía variada entre una población de nobles, clérigos y estudiantes.

    The social and economic history of the city and province of Salamanca during the 15th century is reflected in the censuses carried out at that time. The data found in such documents allow historians to analyse the demography not just through the survey of inhabitants, but also of goods and taxes, highlighting the social differences which existed between the clergy and the laymen. This text also deals with the urban development of the city from the 15th century to the 16th century: streets, squares and areas of greater commercial activity and demographic concentration. To finalize, a study is carried out of the diverse profeáions and their distribution within the city using as the main source of information for the history of the city of Salamanca the Chapter's book of poáeáions: services and the commercialisation of varied craftwork predominated among a population of noblemen, clergy and students
