  • The article talks about Guillaume Bude and scholars younger than him who refers the early period as quagmire of scholastic logic chopping, refering to Plutarch by Michel de Montaigne and scholastic teachings at the Sorbonne. It talks about Bude's translation of Plutarch's On the Opinions of Philosophers, institutional teaching of ancient Greek in Italy from the time of Petrarch to Angelo Ploziano, establishment of formal teaching of Greek in France by Bude and his publications in France.
