La actividad haliéutica en la provincia de Cádiz data de antiguo, pues se trata de una relación ancestral entre el hombre y el mar que podría fecharse hace 300.000 años gracias a las evidencias arqueológicas halladas a ambos lados del estrecho de Gibraltar. Sin embargo, ninguno de los artes de pesca de los que se siguen empleando hoy día en el litoral ha gozado de la historia y del prestigio que ha tenido y tiene la almadraba. Este arte de pesca milenario ha traspasado el ámbito pesquero y se ha instalado en el imaginario colectivo sirviendo de inspiración a numerosos autores a lo largo de la historia de nuestra literatura. El objeto de este estudio es acercar al lector la historia, el funcionamiento y la terminología de este arte a través de la mirada de distintos escritores que se han visto atraídos por la espectacularidad de la pesca del atún con almadraba.

Halieutic activity in the province of Cádiz dates back to ancient times, since it is an ancestral relationship between man and sea that could be dated 300,000 years ago thanks to the archaeological evidence found on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar. However, no fishing gear that is still used today on the coast has enjoyed the history and prestige that has the almadraba. This millenary fishing art has crossed the fishing field and has installed itself in the collective imagination, inspiring many authors throughout the history of our literature. The purpose of this study is to bring the reader closer to the history, functioning and terminology of this art through the eyes of different writers who have been attracted by the fishing of tuna with this fishing art.
