¿Cómo se ha escrito la historia de la lengua española? Sobre los textos medievales y clásicos como fuente de datos lingüísticos

    El presente trabajo constituye una revisión de las fuentes –autores y textos literarios de los siglos XIII-XVII (textos medievales y clásicos)–, que han servido para ejemplificar los fenómenos lingüísticos abordados en los manuales y las gramáticas históricas del español. El fin último que persigue esta revisión es poder “descifrar” los textos y los autores sobre los que se ha escrito la historia de la lengua española, hasta la fecha. En un primer momento, se revisan los manuales de historia de la lengua, las gramáticas históricas y los trabajos de corte diacrónico, para después completar dicha revisión con algunas gramáticas del español y otros trabajos afines. Hasta cierto punto, la información de que disponemos puede estar condicionada por el tipo de texto que se ha seleccionado en estos trabajos, generalizando para toda una época aspectos que solo son propios de un género textual, o incluso de un solo autor. Además, la selección de las fuentes ha estado íntimamente condicionada por el canon literario. Entre los autores y textos medievales, Gonzalo de Berceo y Alfonso X el Sabio han sido los más citados. Por lo que respecta a los autores y textos clásicos, Cervantes. Otro de los problemas que encontramos es que en ocasiones se han empleado testimonios poco fiables desde el punto de vista filológico. Por último, las autoras medievales y áureas han sido completamente ignoradas de la historia de la lengua, así como los textos y escritores americanos.

    The present work constitutes a revision of the sources –authors and literary texts of the XIII-XVII centuries (medieval and classic texts)– that have served to exemplify the linguistic phenomena approached in the textbooks and historical grammars of the Spanish language. The final objective of this review is to decipher the texts and authors on which the History of the Spanish language has been written, thus far. First, the manuals of the history of the language, historical grammars and other diachronic works are reviewed, and then completed with some Spanish grammars and other related works. To some extent, the information we have can be conditioned by the type of text that has been selected in these works, generalizing for a whole period aspects that are only typical of a textual genre or even a single author. In addition, the selection of sources has been intimately conditioned by the literary canon. Among the authors and medieval texts, Gonzalo de Berceo and Alfonso X the Wise have been the most cited. As for the authors and classic texts, Cervantes is the most cited. Another problem found is that on occasion, untrustworthy testimonies from the philological point of view have been used. Finally, the medieval and aureate female authors have been completely ignored in the history of the language, as well as the American texts and writers.
