El autor presenta una visión histórica de la pesca española muy diferente de la demasiado optimista tan al uso. Esta postura discordante se basa no solamente en los fondos documentales relativos a la pesca en España(que el autor ha manejado), sino también en su experiencia directa como trabajador en esa industria durantelos últimos cincuenta años. El pesimismo con que el autor encara el futuro lo fundamenta en la ignorancia que del tema pesquero hacen y han hecho gala los representantes de la Administración, en el inmovilismo intelectual del sector extractivo, y en la indiferencia queunos y otros muestran del consumidor.

This author presents a historic view of Spain's fishing, very different form the common over-opimistic ones. This discordant point of view is not only based on the existing documentary sources about Spain's fishing (which the autor has used), but also on his own experience as a worker in this industry over the last fifty years. The pessimism with which the author faces the future is based on the lack of knowledge that the Administration representatives had and have shown regarding the fishing issue, in the intellectual numbness of the extractive sector, and the indifference that both groups show towards consumers.
