Resumen de Medios de comunicación y conflicto: cierre del diario ecuatoriano Hoy

  En los procesos de inclusión, jerarquización de noticias y selección de enfoques, los medios de comunicación generan una serie de conflictos con otros actores de la política. El presente trabajo estudia la relación entre la desaparición del diario Hoyen Ecuador y su participación en el conflicto gobierno-medios que caracterizó la era del expresidente Correa. De forma inédita se consulta a los diversos actores involucrados, entre ellos el ex director del diario, Jaime Mantilla, periodistas y demás trabajadores, mediante entrevistas semi-estructuradas y no estructuradas, con el propósito de trascender las miradas polarizadas y entablar un diálogo crítico entre los diversos testimonios.

  In the processes of inclusion, exclusion, news hierarchization and frames selection, media gives rise to a range of conflicts with other actors in the political arena. The aim of this research is to analyse the closing down case of the daily Ecuadorian newspaper Hoy from the media power struggle perspective. To this effect several actors were consulted, including Jaime Mantilla, former Editor of the newspaper, but also journalists and other workers, through semi-structured and unstructured interviews. The results of the research will contribute to other empiric studies regarding the conflict between Rafael Correa’s Government and media, from the power struggle category, what is essential for the understanding of the relationships between these two political actors during the so-called Citizens Revolution.
