Resumen de Analfabetismo en el primer tercio del siglo XX: la creación de escuelas en Valdés (Asturias)

  En este artículo se analiza la creación de escuelas en el municipio de Valdés (Asturias) durante el primer tercio del siglo XX. Cabe señalar el papel protagonista que tuvieron los vecinos en la materialización del acceso a la enseñanza de sus hijos. Fueron los propios vecinos quienes sufragaron parte de los gastos de construcción de los edificios, e incluso donaron los solares donde se habrían de levantar los mismos, así como los materiales utilizados. El periodo que abarca la Segunda República fue el más fructífero en cuanto a levantamiento de edificios escolares, de la mano de su alcalde Luis Ochoa de Albornoz, que puso gran empeño en atender las demandas de los vecinos canalizadas a través de los Celadores y Alcaldes de Barrio.

  This article analyzes the creation of schools in the municipality of Valdés (Asturias) during the first third of the 20th century. It is worth noting the protagonist role played by residents in the materialization of access to education for their children. The residents themselves incurred part of the construction costs of the buildings and even donated the lots where they would be raised and the materials used. The period covered by the Second Republic was the most fruitful in terms of erecting school buildings, at the hands of its mayor Luis Ochoa de Albornoz, who put great effort into meeting the demands of the residents channeled through the Neighborhood Leaders and Watchmen.
