Plantaciones de árboles madereros con usos militares en Extremadura: el sesmo de Caparrosa en Valencia de Alcántara (Cáceres), un proyecto de Diego de Bordick

    El vivero de Caparrosa, ideado por el ingeniero Diego Bordik en 1725, fue un intento de replantación forestal para reparar las fortificaciones de la frontera luso-extremeña, muy dañadas por las repetidas guerras de los siglos XVII y XVIII. El estudio presenta tres planos con todas las referencias al estado de situación del terreno elegido, su trasformación en vivero y el plano correspondiente a la vivienda del guarda de la plantación. Constituye la primera referencia de este tipo de trabajos planteado por ingenieros militares en Extremadura y la primera noticia de una empresa ideada por Bordik fuera de los planes de fortificación en la región. El militar acomete el plan siguiendo las pautas del jardín clásico francés con claras referencias a Le Nôtre y Dezailler d’Argenville. No existen sin embargo datos que avalen su ejecución.

    The nursery in Caparrosa, thought up by the engineer Diego Bordick in 1725, was a forest replanting attempt in order to repair the fortifications on the Portuguese-Extremaduran border, very damaged by the frequent wars in the 17th and 18th centuries. The study shows three plans including all the references to the condition of the chosen land, its transfomation into a timber nursery and the plan for the ranger´s housing in the plantation. It represents the first reference to this kind of work suggested by military engineers in Extremadura and the first news about an enterprise devised by Bordick apart from the fortification plans in the region. The military man undertakes the plan following the guidelines of a French garden with obvious references to Le Nôtre and Dezailler d’Argenville. Nevertheless, there is not information which validates its implementation.
