  • Shipping and shipbuilding are being challenged by the adverse conditions created just when some countries proclaim that the economic crisis is already over.

    Overcapacity in both sectors, and the different strategies followed by them to arrive to more “calm seas” are the object of this article. Also, there is a question mark about the position of the European Union. So it is the reason of the cry: Somebody on the bridge? In a second part, the article refers about the possibilities to utilize Arctic maritime routes in the future as a result of the global warming, and when such navigation routes could be used as well as their conditions.
