  En el presente artículo se publican cuatro versiones bereberes del cuento El joven pastor en poder de los asaltantes que nos obligarán a replantearnos las teorías acerca del origen y de la distribución del relato. Estas variantes –que fueron recogidas en una minúscula región montañosa del norte de Argelia– despliegan una diversidad de motivos y de personajes incluso superior al conjunto de paralelos de todo el continente europeo.

  In this article we offer four Algerian versions of the tale The Shepherd Youth in the Robbers’ Power which will force us to reconsider current theories about the origin and distribution of this tale. These versions, gathered from a tiny mountainous region in northern Algeria, display a diversity of motifs and characters even greater than the set of versions of the entire European continent.
