Remote sensing is a very useful tool for the calculation of the parameters involved in the evapotranspiration (ET) process. In addition, it has advantages over traditional methods, since it can present ET values in a spatial and temporal way. One option to estimate ET by remote sensing is the SEBAL algorithm (Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land). This is tion of forage maize using Landsat 8.0 satellite images, SEBAL algorithm and QGIS software, which was important for algorithm development and mapping of the study parameters. When comparing the instantaneous evapotranspiration calculated by the Penman Monteith method (based on weather data from the meteorological station) and the estimated by SEBAL, they presented an average relative error of 13%. With regard to the comparison of the actual daily crop evapotranspiration, the Penman Monteith method (using the dual cropping coefficients for forage maize) and the SEBAL algorithm presented an average relative error of 7.4%. Finally, a comparison of the accumulated evapotranspiration during the vegetative cycle of the crop (124 days) between the software “Cropwat 8.0” and “Irrinet” and the SEBAL algorithm were performed, with relative error of -13.8% and -0.01% respectively , with these results, it was concluded that it is feasible to use this methodological procedure to estimate the water consumption of forage maize.based on the energy conservation equation and uses spatial information from different sensors that provide images where visible, near infrared and thermal radiation recorded. The objective of this work was to establish a methodological procedure to estimate the water consump of forage maize
