    La posición integradora, liberal e inclusiva desde la que Ortega y Gasset desarrolla su pensamiento, y en particular, lo expuesto en la rebelión de las masas" pone en cuestión ciertas interpretaciones que la consideran una teoría elitista, que podría llegar a desestimar nada menos que a los más, y con ello, a justificar o legitimar que fueran unos mejor dotados los encargados de dirigirlos. Sin embargo, Ortega explica la interacción entre la masa y minoría como un acontecer natural en constante fluctuación, siendo posible que todo hombre ejerza en la minoría y en la masa, en distinto momentos y esferas de su vida.
