    La abundante documentación seriada depositada en el Archivo capitular de la catedral de Burgos nos ha permitido establecer un seguimiento del origen y uso del papel como material escriptorio, al que acompañamos de un estudio comparativo con el comienzo de su utilización en el concejo burgalés, cuyos registros proceden de la chancillería real de Alfonso X y que actualmente se encuentran en el Archivo Municipal de Burgos. El análisis del papel del siglo XV, nos permite conocer la existencia de un material, elaborado en la misma ciudad burgalesa y que se utiliza conjuntamente con el importado de Italia. Ambos conviven en los años centrales de la centuria, siendo predominante el italiano hasta final de siglo. Por último; el estudio de las marcas de agua desde fines del siglo XIV y el siglo XV ofrece una gran variedad de datos inéditos que ayudan notablemente a incrementar el conocimiento y evolución de su comercio por parte de la institución capitular burgalesa, lo que convierte a esta ciudad en un centro papelero y en punto comercial de primer orden en la Baja Edad Media

    The serial abundant documentation placed in the Chapter Archive of the Cathedral of Burgos has allowed us to establish the monitoring of the source and use of paper as scriptoria matter. This is accompanied by a comparative study with the beginning of its use in the Council of Burgos, whose records come from the royal chancery of Alfonso X and are currently placed in the Municipal Archives of Burgos. The analysis of the paper of the Fifteenth century allows us to know the existence of a material prepared in the same city of Burgos and used with the one imported from Italy. Both papers exist in the Middle years of the century, with predominance of the Italian paper until the end of the century. Finally the study of watermarks from the late Fourteenth century and the Fifteenth century offers a great variety of unpublished data that significantly help to increase the knowledge and development of their trade by the Chapter Institution of Burgos. This fact makes this city a paper center and first order trade point in the late Middle Ages
