Cesare Brandi, italian theoric who published the Theory of Restauration in 1964, founded the theory of the critical restauration, whitout a doubt, the base of the modern restoration, but his thought has met with resistance in Italy and abroad and there are theorics who are opposed to his theories, in relation to concepts like reversibility, the importance he gives to image or the respect to matter like historic document. In some way, the late and biased translation of his books, was been one of the causes which led to the incomprehension.
