Resumen de Da Monarquia para a República: os oficiais do Exército perante o 5 de Outubro

This study aims to explore, in a first stage, the way in which the Portuguese Army officers positioned themselves during the last 20 years of the Constitutional Monarchy. Then, this study attempts to offer an interpretation, which explains how these officers ended up by accepting the republican ideology and, therefore, the implementation of a new regime.

Este estudo pretende explorar, numa primeira fase, a forma como os oficiais do Exército se posicionaram em relação ao regime monárquico durante os últimos anos de Monarquia Constitucional. Depois, o artigo procura oferecer uma hipótese interpretativa que explica como é que os oficiais acabaram por aceitar a ideologia republicana e, consequentemente, a instauração do novo regime.
