Resumen de Hobbit may be migrant kin of Homo habilis

Alice Klein

  • The origins of the mysterious, tiny Homo floresiensis, aka the hobbit, are up in the air once again. New research suggests it evolved from a hominin that was the first to ever venture out of Africa. The most comprehensive analysis of the remains so far suggests a mystery ancestor that lived in Africa over 2 million years ago. Some members of this ancestral group remained there and evolved into Homo habilis, one of the first makers of stone tools. The others left Africa about 2 million years ago, before H. erectus did, and arrived in Flores at least 700,000 years ago.
