  • Resumen
    • The article discusses methodology, epistemology and ethics in instructed second language acquisition research. Methodological concerns revolve around the themes of scientific rigor, criteria for research quality, and reporting standards. Epistemological concerns focus on epistemology and ontology, posing fundamental questions about the nature of reality and the relationship between reality and knower as well as the validity of theories and ways of knowing. Ethical concerns, in turn, have traditionally focused on the moral conduct of research on human subjects, but they also engage more widely with axiology, that is, questions of value or worth, and with the themes of moral imperatives, values that guide action and worthy purposes of research. Clearly, methodological, epistemological and ethical dimensions are intertwined.
