  • The article presents news briefs relating to modern language teachers as of the summer of 2012. The American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI) is to be held from November 16-19, 2012 in Pennsylvania. The 2011 British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) Book Prize was awarded to professor Nikolas Coupland for his book "The Handbook of Language and Globalisation." The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) works on the Research Priorities Initiative.
